Wireless Communications: 5G Communication

5G enables an evolutionary leap forward in communication technology, and is already being deployed in select cities.

Alphacore offers very-low-power and high-speed analog to digital converter (ADC) intellectual property (IP) design blocks, ranging between 0.2 – 5 GSPS, that enable direct RF sampling architectures, for advanced communication standards including 5G, LTE and WiFi.

Wireline Communication ASICs

Optical communications links, such as coherent transceiver and PAM4 transceivers, require low to medium resolution and low power data converters at high sampling rates, sometimes exceeding 100 GSPS. These transceivers are crucial for the next-generation ethernet standards and intra- and inter- data center communication links. 

Our advanced data converter IP can be used for these next-generation optical transceiver modules, needed to support 400G ethernet standards. This enables massive network capabilities and new solutions which were previously not available.

High-Speed Test Equipment and Instrumentation

Alphacore offers customers high-speed Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC) and Digital-to-Analog (DAC) IP, with designs that maximize data bandwidth and throughput of the complete system, and support users in achieving reliable results for even the most challenging applications. 

We have solutions to enhance widely-used instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrometers, communications testers, wideband digitizers, and handheld or battery powered test equipment.

Automotive Radar and Lidar

Autonomous vehicles require high performance data conversion for emerging precision low-cost radar and lidar imaging equipment for use in self-driving cars. Precision data conversion is necessary for Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), in order to support the wide range of passive and active systems designed to enable a safe, efficient, and comfortable ride.

Due to the nature of the application, autonomous transportation demand systems that can provide signals as fast as possible with high accuracy and have minimum latency, meaning the use of high-speed ADCs is especially crucial to ensure safe and reliable use of these vehicles. Alphacore’s ADC will pave the way to perfecting a transport solution that can significantly reduce both the room for human-error, and in-turn, the likelihood of fatal accidents. 

Aerospace & Defense

Recent advancements in radio frequency (RF) electronics has played an important role in the realization of next-generation phased arrays. Alphacore offers a range of high-speed data converter, transceiver, phase-locked-loop (PLL), and power management IP, capable of enhancing developments along the entire design process. 

High-speed ADCs and digital signal processing enable digital beamforming for phased array apertures, allowing multiple beams to be formed simultaneously and in many directions, as well as flexible system programmability. Our high-speed ADCs have the sampling rate and input bandwidth needed to enable direct RF sampling, a highly sought after approach in receiver architecture that has long been hindered mainly due to limitations in data converter technology.
